BIOL. Nom scientifique de la vitamine B1. Synon. de thiamine :
• La vitamine B1, ou antibéribérique, n'a été isolée qu'en 1926 par Jansen. Sa formule chimique a été établie en 1931 par Williams et Windaus, et sa synthèse réalisée par Andersag en 1936 : il s'agit de l'aneurine ou thiamine, dont le rôle consiste à faciliter la dégradation de l'acide pyruvique qui est toxique pour le système nerveux.
